What sort of clothes should I wear when I attend a training session?
Comfortable, casual clothing is recommended in order to cope with activities such as bending, kneeling and lying on the floor.
I have special needs. Can I still do a first aid course?
Depending on the type of need, you can still participate in a first aid course. St John Ambulance (Qld) will do everything possible to meet individual needs. Please advise us of your requirements when you book your course by sending email to enquiries@stjohnqld.com.au.
What do we need to bring?
You will need to bring your confirmation letter with you on the first day of the class, as well as some form of identification (photo ID). Please bring your own lunch, as this is not provided. Most venues are within walking distance of cafes.
Is there recognition of other first aid training providers' certificates?
Yes. First Aid qualifications that have been issued by a Registered Training Organisation will be recognised. The qualification must be sighted by the St John consultant on enrolment or by the trainer, prior to commencing the course.
How long before I get my Statement of Attainment?
A Statement of Attainment will be issued within 30 calendar days following successful completion of the assessment of the First Aid course.
Does my Statement of Attainment have to be current to enrol in a recertification course?
No. As long as you are able to demonstrate competency during the assessment.
What happens if I am deemed 'not yet competent'?
You will be given two (2) additional attempts. After these attempts, if you are still deemed ‘not yet competent’, you will need to repeat the course at your own expense.
Do I need a USI to enrol in a first aid course?
Yes.
The Federal Government now requires all students to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) to obtain a certificate or qualification when undertaking nationally recognised training courses. This includes St John Ambulance (Qld) First Aid training courses.
